Independence Day Celebrations at Satsang Vidyalaya

Satsang Vidyalaya celebrated India's 2012 Independence day with much fanfare! There was a lot of planning and organization that went into this celebration (as is with all occasions and celebrations at the Satsang Vidyalaya school).

The day started with having all the students assemble in their respective classrooms.

Orderly and disciplined - thanks to both the children and our teachers. The students aren't told or ordered around, but are requested. And it shows!

The pretty little girl students of Satsang Vidyalaya were ushered in to tie special "Independence Day" ribbons on all the boys hands. Very many shy faces were spotted.

But the girls were very intent on doing a perfect job.

The students were then taken outside for the primary celebrations. We just can't stop gushing over how pretty and cute all the little children looked!

And it was a nice big turnout!

Now that all the students were gathered together, it was on to the customary lighting of the lamp by Mr. Ravindran.

And then the raising of the flag! You can just imagine the charged patriotic fervor in every single little heart there!

The singing of the Indian National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana...followed. And we're quite sure the students at the lead probably practiced this for weeks!

And now, we have speeches on our Independence day. Reliving the days when our country's freedom fighters suffered for the freedom and independence we have now.

While the students sat in rapt attention.

Even Satsang Vidyalaya has backbenchers...and we did spot a couple of them!

Teachers (who are the organizers by the way) nervously looking into the day's plan...

The reason why we get to celebrate Independence day! We love our Bapu!

Now, we are onto the most exciting part of the celebrations! Song and dance routines by the students! The first one was carefully overseen by the teachers of the primary grade...

A singer superstar!

A song and dance skit put on by some of the students from the higher grades. Gosh, they look so pretty in their dresses!

The children are all excited!

And here's wishing you all a very happy Independence day! Hope you had as much as we did. And if you didn't, you can join us next year!
