Annual Sports Day at Satsang Vidyalaya

Our annual sports day for this year had arrived!

This was one day that all the kids were tremendously excited about! Its a day when the students can be out all day long - and its okay! Whoopee!

The students were grouped together on a sunny day outside in the playground, so that the day could get organized...

And here's our Director Mr Stephen in his very cool sports gear giving all the students instructions...

In Satsang Vidyalaya - Everybody participates! How lovely to see Mr Stephen, our Director out enjoying with our children!

Our Cheerleaders!

A quick march past by the students to kick things off for Satsang Vidyalaya's Annual Sports Day for 2012!

An innovative game for the little ones at our school - hands tied behind your back; pick the sticks on the ground with your mouth

And run across to your bucket on the other end and drop them in there

The first one to finish wins!

We also had a very competitive game of handball amongst all the girls...

What a catch!

Prayers always help!

If we ever saw a long jump that was championship material - it was this!

The boys weren't left behind...literally - 100 metre sprint!

We're going to leave you guessing on who won ;-)

Teacher's day at Satsang Vidyalaya

Today, the 5th of September 2012 - the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India's second President, we celebrated Teachers Day at Satsang Vidyalaya!

The day started with organizing all the students in the playground area.

The teachers then garlanded and lighted a lamp for Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's picture.

The students then proceeded to pay their respects to our teachers. And yes, our children take this very seriously!

Our Director, Mr Stephen, dressed in his crisp dhoti, looks on with quiet pride. And rightly so!

The students waiting their turn...

This is our spoken English teacher who just does not like the spot light! He doesn't even want to sit to receive the students! A very humble and endearing man.

And thus we conclude our teacher's day celebrations. You just have to love our fanfare!

Independence Day Celebrations at Satsang Vidyalaya

Satsang Vidyalaya celebrated India's 2012 Independence day with much fanfare! There was a lot of planning and organization that went into this celebration (as is with all occasions and celebrations at the Satsang Vidyalaya school).

The day started with having all the students assemble in their respective classrooms.

Orderly and disciplined - thanks to both the children and our teachers. The students aren't told or ordered around, but are requested. And it shows!

The pretty little girl students of Satsang Vidyalaya were ushered in to tie special "Independence Day" ribbons on all the boys hands. Very many shy faces were spotted.

But the girls were very intent on doing a perfect job.

The students were then taken outside for the primary celebrations. We just can't stop gushing over how pretty and cute all the little children looked!

And it was a nice big turnout!

Now that all the students were gathered together, it was on to the customary lighting of the lamp by Mr. Ravindran.

And then the raising of the flag! You can just imagine the charged patriotic fervor in every single little heart there!

The singing of the Indian National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana...followed. And we're quite sure the students at the lead probably practiced this for weeks!

And now, we have speeches on our Independence day. Reliving the days when our country's freedom fighters suffered for the freedom and independence we have now.

While the students sat in rapt attention.

Even Satsang Vidyalaya has backbenchers...and we did spot a couple of them!

Teachers (who are the organizers by the way) nervously looking into the day's plan...

The reason why we get to celebrate Independence day! We love our Bapu!

Now, we are onto the most exciting part of the celebrations! Song and dance routines by the students! The first one was carefully overseen by the teachers of the primary grade...

A singer superstar!

A song and dance skit put on by some of the students from the higher grades. Gosh, they look so pretty in their dresses!

The children are all excited!

And here's wishing you all a very happy Independence day! Hope you had as much as we did. And if you didn't, you can join us next year!
