Internet Education Course for Satsang Vidyalaya Teachers

The internet is truly the gateway to the world. Everybody uses the internet to access information, educate themselves, and even shop for things. Basic computer education and using the internet is something children know even before entering preschool!

Sri Sukhwinder Singh was invited to visit the teachers at Satsang Vidyalaya and conduct a one day workshop on using the internet.

The workshop included a presentation  on how to access the world wide web and what its uses were. The workshop included:
  • Introduction to the internet
  • How are browsers used?
  • What are search engines and what are their uses? How do I use them in everyday life?
  • How to email - including creating a new email account
So how do you find out how effective this workshop was? Well, we later found out that some of the teachers went home and created their own personal email accounts!

Satsang Vidyalaya is now enroute to becoming a tech-friendly school!

Thank you Sukhwinder!

Meet the trainers - PREETI SHARMA

Preeti Sharma is a Post Graduate in Microbiology with seven years of teaching experience. An avid traveller and nature lover, Preeti loves music and never misses a chance to hit the dance floor.

Hi Preeti...Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a person who believes in honesty, sincerity and hardwork. I love to explore new ideas and places. I have a good spiritual bend. I respect and love my family and friends.

So what inspired you to take up this project at Satsang Vidyalaya?

I considered myself lucky to be a part of this project when this was forwarded to me. As I never had this experience before, I wanted to explore new people at a new place.

Could you please share with us your expectation from the project

I, with my fellow friends have tried to at least initiate the project with dedication and devotion. I expect that our efforts attain fruit soon in the form of lesson planning done by the teachers.

Personally, what do you want to get out of this exposure?

Its rightly said that give happiness to others in any form or way, and in the end, when you get the satisfaction for doing something good, you feel so satiated. I think that’s what I want from this exposure. I have tried to teach a bit of professionalism and tried to make them able to handle day to day activities in the school. If the teachers are able to do it, I have done my job.

What was the experience? Has this experience brought in any change?

I really feel that this interaction have brought a change in all of us. I have learnt to be simple and loving from the teachers of Satsang Vidyalaya. At the same time, they have adopted the techniques of lesson planning and using it to make their teaching learning a success.

What was your role in the training session?

I am acting as one of the member of the Core team of five people. I was there to provide the materials and discuss the methodology in Science and also sharing the general management policies been used in the classroom.

Do you have any suggestions for the teachers of Satsang Vidyalaya or areas of continual improvement that they may require?

The teachers of SV are doing a fabulous job. Their work will be the best if they have good command over English language and also if they will continue to follow the tools taught.

Now tell us a little about your family.

I have been brought up in a joint family who taught me respect and also to value. It is my family from whom I have learnt to be flexible, understanding and to love others. The spiritual element in me is also due to my family.

Do you have any previous experience in rural education/schools?

I have been to State level Government Primary Schools but didn’t have any experience in rural school before.

Would you like to come back to Satsang Vidyalaya?

Of course yes, without giving a single thought to it. I would love to come whenever you will call me.  If I can help to establish and develop good skills in the teachers, which they will use to help the kids, I am always ready.
